Continue readingMembers of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) challenge the Government’s proposals to raise the Small Claims Court Limit – A Press campaign, assisted by APIL members, has been launched in regional newspapers to highlight the Government’s proposals to raise the Small Claims Court limit for some Personal Injury claims.
Many members have signed up to a letter warning of profound effects that the Government proposals will have on deserved Claimants’ Access to Justice.“Insurance Companies persuaded the Government to introduce these plans by claiming costs would reduce and savings would be passed on to motorists through lower premiums. Unsurprisingly, Insurers have refused to give the Government any commitment on how they will come down or when” it reads.
The letter goes on to say that “these changes will create a totally uneven playing field and wave heavily in the favour of big business. People with genuine injuries will struggle to find Justice whilst Insurance Premiums remain sky high”.
