Continue readingAt the beginning of the year, I joined the conveyancing team here at Hubbard Pegman & Whitney LLP to start my second training seat. After eight months of training I can truly say how much of a joy it was to work in the department. During my Legal Practice Course, I was always keen to see how conveyancing played out in reality. I cannot express enough how much I have enjoyed working in the conveyancing department. In my second seat, I was given the opportunity to start taking on my own matters. I was given such a variety during my seat ranging from Lease Extensions to Sales to Purchases. This helped me to blossom and further my knowledge especially with regards to the conveyancing protocol. As I stated previously in my articles, not all my cases were simple, some matters were layered with obstacles that led me to questioning further or even solving though legal research.
I have to say how much I cherished having my own clients, although supervised, it helped me to build strong client relationships which led to more business being generated for the department.
I am extremely grateful to have worked beside Peter and Gurpal during my second seat, they provided me with such a supportive environment and fantastic guidance. I really appreciate all the pressures and laughs we have had during my second seat.
In September I will be joining the Probate Department, I am enthusiastic to join the department as I have always wanted to know the process for probating a will and working on Lasting Powers of Attorney/Deputyship matters. Knowing that the Probate Seat is my final seat of my training contract is quite moving. After all the training courses, exams, degrees, different departments, I am actually going to be a newly qualified solicitor.”
