A little-reported case shows the danger of taking matters into your own hands when you buy goods of inferior quality.
It dealt with the sale of a pony. The buyer of the pony considered it to be unsafe for use by children and that it had been misrepresented to him as being safe.
His response to this was to put a video on YouTube which made allegations about the vendor. The vendor objected to this and took legal action. The court concluded that the allegations were defamatory, leaving the purchaser with a hefty bill to pay in damages and costs.
